Margs and Mindset
Barlyssa have been taking on life's challenges side by side, discovering what works and what doesn't. We're not just addressing past wounds, but also picking up handy skills and strategies along the way to steer our journey forward. We're convinced that no one should have to pilot through these experiences alone. With a common objective, we pondered the most impactful way to extend out support to women of color tackling generational traumas and experiences in solitude. It turned out that launching a podcast is the best conduit to build a supportive community that engages in raw, real and open dialogues that yield authentic growth. But, add tasty margaritas and some laughs for a good time because a good laugh can overcome more difficulties and dissipates more dark clouds than people realize.
Margs and Mindset
When Your Home Stops Fitting
Use Left/Right to seek, Home/End to jump to start or end. Hold shift to jump forward or backward.
Your home can be beautiful and still feel wrong for the life you’re living. We’re talking about what happens when you hit that moment and realize a renovation isn’t really about a brighter bathroom or a new layout, it’s about alignment, identity, and building a space that supports your future self.
We share a real-time renovation update from the casita redo, including how a simple shift like a walk-in shower, brighter paint, and cleaner lines can make a space feel bigger without adding a single square foot. But we also keep it honest about the hard part: living in construction, juggling business during the busiest season, and managing the stress of a house that’s temporarily not your safe place.
Then the conversation turns into something bigger: the emotional spiral that comes with a renovation estimate and the questions it forces you to answer. Is this a forever home? What does stability mean when you grew up moving every year? How do you spend money with intention instead of impulse? We also tell the story of saying yes to a women’s dinner with strangers, wanting to cancel, setting intentions in the car, and leaving with genuine connection and a “core memory” that reminds us we’re meant to gather.
If you’re craving an intentional living reset, thinking about home renovation planning, or trying to build community that actually lights you up, press play. Subscribe, share with a friend who needs a nudge to show up, and leave us a review so more people can find the pod.

Time Is Speeding Up
BarbEpisode 153.
LyssaWe back again.
BarbTime is flying. I know. Time. I feel like time hit the fast forward button. If you remember what the button actually was like pushing it, it feels like that.
LyssaTaking us back to VCR days. Yes. Radios. What do they call it again? Boom boxes, the boom box. Yeah, you know.
BarbYeah. So that button, I feel like it's on 2X. Yeah. And shit is just like moving.
LyssaYeah. I we ended summer and it's like the end of the year. Like I feel like we we truly were like, all right, it's back to school. And now I feel like we should be talking about Christmas because I'm like, well, it's basically 2027, right? And I'm like, bitch, there are still like four months left here, but in a much more real way, there's not, there's actually only two.
BarbThat is definitely an entrepreneurial trait. Right. We can we just have to plan so far, right? We have to start planning for the new year. We get to start planning for the new year. Um, and all of those exciting things while also doing all of these wonderful exciting
Classic Margarita And Catching Up
Barbthings. Exactly. Like what's in your cup. Ooh, today we have a classic margarita.
LyssaI'm so excited for this. We have been, you, sorry, I did not mean to take any gray there. You, ma'am, have been killing your oleo sacrum and getting us all these very cute flavored margaritas lately. And I've been loving it, but I am excited to uh salute on this little classic baby we got here. Let's see.
BarbNo, I think I did it. Yeah, I think something. Okay, well done. Three years later. No big deal. We all learn at our own space.
LyssaAdding bartender to your many, many, many skills. Um, but we have uh eclectic
Casita Renovation Progress And Wins
Lyssaepisode today.
BarbI want to share about my home. Yeah. My casita is getting redone. Um, I shared a couple weeks ago. We walked in, it was gutted. And now, over the course of three weeks, we have slowly seen a transformation. Things get added. Um, today you walked in, you were like, nope, show me the.
LyssaI was like, I don't even don't talk to me. I'd love to see you every single time, but I am here for the house. I am here for the house today.
BarbUm, so yeah, so three weeks in, and the bedroom is almost done. It's just ordering furniture and installing light fixtures. Um, it was painted this beautiful bright white. Yeah. And I think I am very much obsessed. Yes. Um, it's exactly what my little room needed because it was so dark. Um, so I can't wait to for that to be done. Bathroom has the shower bench, has like the the shower. Like the shower is a shower now. Yeah. It's a walk-in shower, no more tub because we don't have babies. And that's crazy because it looks like a whole different space.
LyssaThe bathroom feels so big. It felt it just felt so much bigger. And knowing that even when they put in the vanity and they put in the toilet, that we're also not there yet, um, because that open space, because it's a walk-in closet now, right? You your tub was also very tall. So you had like a half wall to like get inside your tub. So toes were stubbed on the way in and out.
BarbSeriously, though.
LyssaSo I feel like knowing that you now are just gonna have this panel of glass, right? Like it is truly just gonna be fully open. You're gonna see that space. The bathroom is just it's so big. You added no square footage, and yet you're gaining so much square footage.
BarbAnd I actually had that thought the other day, right? We we didn't break walls down, we didn't add square footage. There, there is no square footage to add, like it is max square footage. And even though we are not adding square footage, I feel the the change. I feel the shift, I feel how things are gonna feel bigger and look visually cleaner, bigger, wider, brighter. Yeah um, so that's exciting.
LyssaYeah, you made more space. Yes, and that's that is you you learned how to play with the space. I um naturally you take the leap first because I like to just make sure that I'm not gonna die if I do it too. Um, and you know, obviously very inspired by you always. And I have been living in my home for seven years. Well, seven years, five years, five years, going on six. And I knew when I bought the place that it needed to be redone. We we knew it. We walked in, we toured it, and we said, yeah, with the price tag, I will be able to be able to do this eventually. And then life just kept pushing eventually away and away and away. So I got a quote and I am starting the process, moving very slowly, because that's what helps me feel good about all of this. Um, but it is it's amazing. Like it's amazing to watch you get a home that like you really wanted, like something that you've been working for, you've been talking about it. You're putting so much thought, time, energy, and emotion into this. And currency. And currency, lots of currency. And like it's nice to see it pay off. It's nice to see it come together. We've been talking about it for a long time. How long were we in like the design phase?
BarbWe definitely started working with them last year.
LyssaYeah, like yeah, in the preliminary, right?
BarbWhat you're doing right now, yeah. That preliminary work happened in 2025.
LyssaYeah. And just three weeks ago, demo happened. Right. Right. So it's like to finally see that come together. It's almost like our weddings, like the things that we have coming up. We've been planning these events for so long, and now like they're here, and they get to they get to live in reality. And I'm excited for your home to finally live in reality and out of the cute little books that the Casita girls made. They're adorable books, but I love seeing it in real life.
BarbIn real life, right? It's it's that transformation, right? We we get to do that, like you said, with weddings. And I I'm almost like honored to see it be done through a different creative outlet, yeah, I guess. Yeah. Um and all of the vendors that they have chosen, right? I I know how important it is to make sure that your team is like a vendor status. Yeah, that is event planning, that is construction, that is anything that you can't do by yourself and you have to trust another person. That team has to be A1 because if not, everything is gonna crumble. Yeah. Every contractor that I have interacted with, every person that has come to their house to do their craft has been amazing. Yeah. And has been like excited and oh, your your bathroom's gonna be sick when you're done. Like, oh my God, thank you. You see a lot of bathrooms. Mine's gonna be sick. Yes. That's what I want.
LyssaThat part. That's like the ultimate feedback, especially from someone who has seen baths, that's like their career, yeah, is putting tile in bathrooms. So if you walk out of mine and you're like, oh yeah, no, when this shit is done, it's gonna be sick. I'm like, oh yeah, he means it.
BarbThat means they did it. They did their job, and everyone is just showing up and showing out. And I just, when it's done and I get to like live in it and I get to stand and then open my eyes in the way that I have envisioned already. Not to mention, I cannot wait for my house to just go back to normal because it is in fact now getting to me. Yeah. Mess that can't get cleaned because there's just no space for it to go anywhere else. The accommodations for the business that has to get made because the front room's actually the contractor's room. It's not my room right now. Yeah. All their saws and tools, all their flooring, like it's it's become the storage area for the renovation. They've taken over the garage. Yeah, and I'm feeling like, oh my God, where is all our stuff gonna go? So I am, we are in our busiest season while juggling a huge transition at home. Yeah. And I think I am handling it quite gracefully. And this is my safe space to say, ah, I love my house back.
LyssaI can attest as a third-party observer that you are handling it very gracefully. Thank you. Very, very gracefully. And I feel you. As I was trying to put away two boxes uh earlier into the garage, and I was like, there is literally nowhere for me to put this. Like, nowhere. So, yes, the fact that you are living in that and you know that there is a light at the end of the tunnel, you are getting through, and it's gonna be amazing. It's all
Why A Home Must Reflect You
Lyssagonna be worth it.
BarbBut we I definitely I guess the backstory to why we're here now, why we're talking about this. We actually talked to each other, like we do all the time, about how we couldn't get our home to feel the way we wanted it to feel. Yeah, this was last year, early last year. And we were just like, it, I I know I want the house to be different. I know I want it to feel different, I want it to look different, but I have done everything that I can do. I've just done it. Because I'm not the area designer, I'm not an expert on this. My craft is the same and different. And we wanted our home to reflect who we are now. Yeah. Right. Because that is our ecosystem. That is where if we're not here at Slate recording, we're at home with the family, working, doing this, doing that. And it just didn't our homes don't match us anymore. Yeah, they are life. So I'm proud of us for acknowledging that we can't do something. We have a hard time saying that out loud because we think we could do everything. I mean, I know I can, but also no. I shouldn't. No, not at all. Uh to me to make me do it if I know that I'm not gonna do it the way that I want it, right? It sounds crazy, but flow with me.
LyssaYep, yep, I'm with you.
BarbWe reached out and asked for help. We used our words and our fingers to type in all the words that we needed to send, you know, to the ladies. And we asked for the help to change our environment to match the reality that we are seeking. And I think that's really fucking cool. That's awesome. So it's not just about a pretty home, it is about making sure that our home feels and breathes the way that we want it to, so that we can bring this reality back to life.
LyssaExactly. This is a reflection. Our home is also a reflection. A business is our reflection of us, our home is a reflection of us. And we were, we were kind of thinking of all of these spaces that we have that are mirrors and how we were enjoying it, except at home. And because we do wear so many hats, because we do so many things. Maybe I can think of my home as you know, in one fashion, but to try and be like, I need this space to function as my zen spa, as my family gathering spa, as my business, you know, hub, as like all these things. Like, I I don't know how to make one living room do all of those things. And it's not my job to. That's what other people are for, that's what they specialize in. And we love when someone allows us the opportunity to share our craft and share our gift with the world. And so we're like, somebody else is gifted in this area, and they want the opportunity to share their gift. And I feel like our homes are the place to do it. Yeah. You know, please share your gift with me. Do it. And they are.
BarbSo that is the home update. And I guess the reasoning behind why we do it because we don't ever just do anything just to do it. There's always an intention behind it. Absolutely. Um, and three weeks into Reno, I I pulled that out because I'm grounding in all the gratitude to
The Renovation Quote Triggers Big Questions
Barbget me through hopefully the next three weeks. You got this.
LyssaYou got this. But it it it really is. Like when I got the estimate back for the renovation at at my place, it really was this moment of like, I thought that I was having someone come in to like look at my home. I'm living my best HGTV life. They're gonna check out all these things, and then they're gonna tell me all the great, amazing things that they can do with it. Um, and I'm gonna be able to see it differently. And then, you know, she came through, she had all of the whole laundry list because there is a laundry list of things that need to get redone at my place. Um, and you know, gave a couple AI pictures of like different spaces and how they could look. And I just instantly was like, yes, right. Like, of course I would want it to look like that when I see a beautiful picture like that. And then you hit me with the price tag, you know, and what a whirlwind I have been on ever since I saw that estimate, right? In the beginning, I thought that I was just gonna get an estimate to renovate my home. And I actually had no idea what that was really gonna mean. Like getting that number, I had to ask myself, why am I doing this? Am I doing this just to get an upgrade? Am I doing this just because my best friend is doing it? Am I doing it because there's something that needs to change, that wants to change? And after that, like, what is it going to serve for me in the future, for my future self, right? Like with this type of price tag, I can't think about, well, I'm gonna do this now and then maybe next year I'll just like do it again. You know, like that's not what we're doing here. This is for longevity. So thinking that I'm getting a quote to renovate my house actually for me spiraled into what does my future look like? What does what does a future home for me look like? Is this my forever home? Am I gonna go somewhere else? If I'm gonna go somewhere else, is it worth renovating this space? If I don't go somewhere else, you know, do I renovate more than what I'm gonna do now? You know, like all of these questions that really at the end of it was like, what do you want for yourself? What do you want for your future? What do you want for your life? And it was truly in that moment where I realized that we don't do anything surface level. No, we can. It's not possible. I there, I know that there are so many people on this planet that are like, well, I just want a new kitchen, so I'm just gonna do it. And then they sign the check and then they move on with their life. And they just did it to do it. And I couldn't do that. I could not see myself writing such a large check that, truthfully, in the grand scheme of keys, it's not even that large, you know. But for me, that'd be the most money that I ever spent on something like this. I've never done anything like this, I've never renovated a home, I've never put money into an investment in that way. And so I had to think about it differently and I had to think about it deeply because it is not surface level. It is not just about having a new cabinet or a new tub. Like, I want to know what my future looks like and what does the future Elisa need this space to be? And is this current renovation putting her in that space to become who she wants to be? And that was like, you're a little bit crazy, you know?
BarbAnd then that's crazy.
LyssaAnd then at the same time, right, I'm like, no, I think I'm the one doing it right because this is not, you don't just move to move, you don't just do things to do things. Like you have to have a purpose, you have to have an intention, you gotta have a real reason to push forward on something like this, right? Because if I was just doing this for anything, and then three weeks into the renovation, I want to pull my hair out, right? Like, how am I gonna get to the end? How do you deal with the stress? How do you carry it all? You know that in the end it's worth it, but it can only be worth it if you're doing it for a purpose, and you have to find that purpose first. So I love it. Look at us. I know being so deep on home renovations.
BarbWell, it comes from somewhere, yeah. Right? We didn't stay in house as long as children. This home that I am currently in is the longest that I have ever had the same address in my life. So it it comes from somewhere, right? We had to move and it was always just like, nope, we're moving, and nope we're picking up, nope, we have to pick up and here, and next year is here, and next year is there. And we knew we wanted something different. Yeah. And we're growing that, right? We knew we wanted stability, we didn't know that stability was gonna come with all of these other things. Yeah, and that's what we get to learn. Learn. We're learning. Look at us.
LyssaThat that did come, that definitely came up
Childhood Moving And Choosing Stability
Lyssain in thinking about why I wanted to do this, right? In childhood, we we moved. We moved so much, we moved every year. Leases were 12 months, and then you moved out. And and if you didn't like something about the house that you were renting, you just went and rented a new house. Like you never changed your environment to fit around you. You just tried to go find a different environment. And yeah, I didn't, I didn't want that. And that was a big piece for me because I I found myself going back and forth on whether or not I was gonna do it. And then when I kind of hit that realization, I was like, no, I I want to invest in my home. Like, I I bought this home for a reason. I told myself when I came to see it for the very first time that I would buy this home and that I would do these renovations, and then I just let life take on without me kind of putting my foot down in that aspect and like really prioritizing it. And I think it's time. It's time to prioritize it and you know, make that investment on you, on your home, on your future, and all the things.
BarbSo look at us. We're so cool. I feel like
The Mysterious Dinner Invitation
Barbthis is a beautiful segue. We are in a learning season, we are in a growing season, and I truly after last night feel like we are in a season where we now have enough knowledge to pass it on. Yeah. To pass it on in a bigger way. And I didn't know that until last night.
LyssaUntil I sat at the table. We were invited last night to um a dinner that is being held by two lovely friends, uh, Shelby and Brittany. And it is the Radiant Aura Collective. Um, hosted a dinner out in central New York, and it was a night that I love how no one actually knew why we were there. We were genuinely all just honored to be there, honored to be invited, to be offered a seat at the table. Um, and it almost didn't matter why you chose me. You know, like that that part was kind of just I don't want to say like non-existent, um, but it really spoke volumes, I think, to see all the women at the table, how none of us actually knew what it was that we were doing. We didn't know anyone else that was going to be there. We just knew that Shelby reached out, invited us to this dinner, and we couldn't say no.
BarbSo pause. I'm gonna pick up on the story. We got the invite and we were like, oh my god, that's so nice. It is so nice. That's so freaking nice. Yes, that is so freaking nice for you to even think about me, right? You plan are planning something, you're hosting something. She is creating something, she's birthing something new and you thought of me. Yeah, that's so freaking nice. So we got that invite, we said that to each other, and we said, hell yeah, yeah, we're locking it in, putting it on the calendar. Because if we put it in the calendar, then it happens. Yep. If we don't put it in the calendar, it does not happen. And then it came time to doing it. Yeah. And I'm gonna
Showing Up Despite Every Excuse
BarbBe 100 with y'all. Yeah. We were like, oh, I don't think I want to go. Right. Like now I don't know any. I mean, know the two ladies, love them. And I'm sitting at a whole new table. Yeah. I'm sitting at a table with strangers. I'm exhausted. It's an hour and a half. I had the laundry list of like excuses as to why it doesn't make sense for us to go. Yeah. Yeah. And because we've been working this muscle, because we have put in our reps and have done the practice and have done the things, even though the list was still like it was filing in my head, like I was typing it on the computer in my head, and we still did it. Yeah. We still got dressed. I came and picked you up. We did all the things and we drove the hour and a half. Maybe we got lost once or twice at a time. And we showed up anyways. Yeah. Because what we have learned is that even though you don't want to go, after going, you wanted to go.
LyssaYep. The whole time. It's that part a thousand percent. Because we got the invite a week ago, and we did. We looked at the calendar, we knew what was on there, and we were just like, yeah, no, fuck yes, like this is happening. And then the day came, right? And every time that happens, with no matter what the event is, it's almost like this subconscious way of just like you begin note-taking from the moment you open your eyes all the reasons why today is just not the day for that thing to work. You know? Not today. Just not today. If this was any other day, I promise you, I would just be so down for it. But you know what? Today has just been a day. And how many times have you said that? How many times have you heard that? You can say that about any day. So it to me, to us, right? Like that negates itself. I can make an excuse any day of the week.
unknownYeah, that's true.
LyssaAt any moment, I can give you a and real, right? And not like made up, like I don't have to lie about anything. I can give you a legitimate reason as to why maybe I should not do this thing. But if I want to do it, I'm gonna do it. If it's on the calendar, it's to get done. And therefore, I'm gonna show up. And not once, not ever have we shown up to an event after all of those feelings and said, damn, I really wish we didn't come.
BarbYeah.
LyssaThat doesn't happen. It never happens. So there's no evidence in my body, in my mind to tell me that I'm gonna show up and have a bad time. So that means that I know that I'm gonna show up and have a good time.
BarbAnd who's not here for a good time? Uh we sure are.
LyssaI'm not here for a long time. I'm here for a good time.
BarbI know that's right.
LyssaSo we did. We got ready, we did our thing, we drove for so long, maybe a little extra longer than we needed to. But you know, I haven't been to central New York, so it was nice. We took the scenic route. And we got the let everyone guess who drove there and who drove back. Maybe it's a poll.
BarbCome on, that's one.
LyssaWe should, we should put up a poll because whenever one of us drives, we always get lost. And whenever the other one drives, we don't get lost. I'll let you choose who is who.
BarbHow
Intentions In The Car Before Walking In
Barbfun.
LyssaCan't wait for that to go up. Oh shit. Um, but we did. We got there, and you know, it was that moment we always take a few minutes in the car and, you know, ground ourselves, set the intention, right? Because again, nothing for us is ever surface level. Everything we do, there's an intention, there's a purpose, what we're here for. We say it out loud, and then we went inside and had want to say, is this a ritual?
BarbIs that a ritual? Is that like a I don't want to keep spell because maybe it is a spell. I don't know. We'll see. But it is something that we do. It is, it is something that we say out loud. We set the intention out loud because it's something about the universe hearing the intention that she's gonna help bring that intention to life, right? If she can't hear it, how will she know that's what it's on? You have to say it out loud. Um, okay, love that.
LyssaKeep going. Sexy taste. Um, and then we went inside and we met the rest of the women and we had a great time. Like a great fucking time. It was genuine connections. Everyone at the table was a mirror, right? Like we all just reflected each other and what we were all seeking, what we were all looking for at this dinner. Um, we all obviously were very honored to be chosen by Shelby to be invited to this first uh dinner. And I think that ultimately that's what this life is about. That's what we're here for. We're not here to grind, we're actually not here to wake up and work all day long and go home and eat dinner and watch TV and lay down. We're not meant for that. We are meant to gather, we are meant to share space, we are meant to be in community. And when you are doing that, and then there's like good food and good drinks, you know, like it's
Community Tables And New Connections
Lyssait feeds my soul in a way that there's just nothing else on this planet that does that. It really doesn't. I feel it almost feels ancestral, like I almost feel like I am doing exactly what I'm supposed to be doing. Because we should have never stopped doing this. And, you know, we can have a whole nother podcast as to all of the reasons to why we stopped doing the things that we did in society altogether. But ultimately, like I just I feel like it's just such a gift. It's such a gift to give myself every time we put ourselves at these tables and we surround ourselves with these women and their radiant auras because it's all about that energy. And it it feels like such a beautiful energy exchange when everybody is there intentionally and purposefully. And that's what they did. They curated this table. None of us, there's two people that knew us as far as the rest of the people, and there was 10 of us all together. So, like they sat back and they said, Who should be at this table? Like they almost match made us, you know, like it was it was so cute. And I loved, loved and didn't love, obviously, um, that they separated us. I agree. You know, I agree. It's always uh why do you do that to me? You know we're one name. You know that we sit together because we do everything. We drove together. We've been sitting together this whole time since the fourth grade. I've been sitting next to this girl. What do you mean you're gonna put me somewhere else? Um, but you weren't far, obviously. They just put you across from me. Um, but again, I loved it, right? Because it it does force us to get to know other people. It forces us to talk to other people and to build those connections. And there are comfort zones. And to have someone that you trust to know that they can push you out of your comfort zone, then you don't like hate them in the end, you know. You're like, okay, you do it because you love me, because you care, because like because you know I'm gonna have a good time next to this person, you know. So to have that trust is the love part of it. And it was, it was just it was a great time, it was a great vibe. Everybody's energy was exactly what we all needed, and it just it fills the soul, it fills the cup. It's it's what we're meant to do as humans.
BarbShe definitely gets a gold star for doing the damn thing. She set the intention, she invited the women that matched that intention, and then she did. She she sat back and watched. Like I watched her watch the table. Yeah, and I know what that feels like. Yeah, I know how fulfilling it is to watch your dream come to life right in front of your eyes. And for that, I am I'm buzzing for her because I know she's buzzing. And I just know what that feels like. And part of the reason why we showed up, that is part of the reason why I showed up. You have this dream on your heart, you have this idea, and you need people to believe in you. And I am here with the biggest mirror so that you can believe in yourself because fuck yeah, I believe in you. Why not? Right. Why not you? That part. Why not? You're amazing, you're funny, you're beautiful. Look at what you did this night, this one night, your first night. Yeah, why not you? Back that part. And that was amazing to just watch her dream come true and know the feeling of what that feels like. And then to make connections with strangers, right? That is always mind blowing. While also expected, right? I I know it's gonna happen because we are these people, we do share openly now. Yeah, and when you share, you make a connection. Yeah, that it's inevitable. If two people are sharing, a connection shall be made. And still sitting in it and making those connections. Liz was at my right. I met a new friend, Liz, and I want to put her in my pocket. I want to keep her. Liz, if you're hearing, I love you. Liz was a vibe, was a time, had me laughing. Yeah. And that's why we do it. I wouldn't have met Liz then. If we didn't go, I wouldn't have met Liz. And Liz, I would have missed out on all of the hilarious things that she had to say and the talking points that she had, where it was like, I felt that in my gut. Yeah, she was dropping some truths. Give her a mic and put her on a podcast. It's such an affirmation to know that we are not alone. Yeah. That the way that we think, although some people,

Barbsome more unenlightened people say or put us in this box of black sheep, right? Of this, well, it's because you're all of this. Yeah, you know. But no. Yeah. They're like people, yeah. You go against family, going against society, norms, and all that. And all that things, like, do you not know that those things are trash? Well, they've caused harm. Yeah. Right? They've caused personally victimized, if I'm being honest. And now I have found this other way, this different way that goes against everything that we were taught, everything that we were sold, everything that we generationally were passed down. And it it makes you feel alone. And it makes you feel like, okay, well, am I doing something?
LyssaNo one gets me.
BarbYeah. And to sit at a table and hear somebody else, a stranger, yeah, say the thing that actually caused us to make a change.
unknownYeah.
BarbI felt so affirmed.
LyssaYeah. Yeah. It definitely is a moment to be seen and supported by so many different women. And right, not everyone is gonna walk away like your new best friend, but it's almost like this ability to know that like I've had this ripple effect, and like now I know these women. I do know them. You know what I mean? And like I'm we're just we're growing, we're growing our network, and I love that we are doing it with so much intention that every beautiful soul that continues to just come into this network allows us to just feel so amplified and really give us that buzz. And I think like that's almost what we've been trusting lately to know whether or not we should be in that room. Should I be in this room? Should I be in that table? Are these people gonna light me up or are they not gonna light me up? Is there the normal, oh, I don't want to do this because I'm tired and I have to do this tomorrow and blah, blah, blah? Or is it like, no, I don't think we should be here. The gut is saying no. And that only comes from putting yourself out there, right? Like you were saying before, like we have built this muscle, and we've built this muscle from doing it, from being in the right places and being in the wrong places. And sometimes you got to be in the wrong place to know what the right one is. And I think that's another part that was was truly beautiful was that you're watching someone uh building a village, and in order to do that, you need villagers, you need people to show up for you. And I enjoyed being a villager last night. It was a great village. I'm excited to be a part of and to see how it grows and continues to grow.
BarbIt was a core memory for sure. We're never gonna forget that dinner. No, and again, a testament to what Shelby brought together and what Brittany did. Yeah, they they did it. So great job, ladies. Because we loved it. And it was really nice to go to something that we didn't have to do. It's just good to show up and eat cool.
LyssaI think that's that's what it is, is lately. Um, I would say, like, we've been doing more stuff, but we are still always a part of it. And this was truly the first time in a long time that we got to just show up a guest. Yes, a true guest at the table. Yeah, and that was a lot of fun too.
BarbThank you, thank you, because that was it was special. It was, it was a core memory. Um, and like I'm excited for the next one, you know? So I'm proud of them and I'm proud of everyone at that table for sharing, for opening, for being vulnerable. And this just came into my head, my brouha just said it. Um back in February, we went to our first goddess gathering, to the first time that we really locked into a community setting for an extended period of time with a group of women, with a group of strangers, real world style, all the way. And there's a podcast episode on it, go listen. It's a vibe. Absolutely. In I don't even know how many months, but it's less than a year, February to September. Look at the fucking growth. I know. That's wild to me. That same way that you right, if you stay consistent at the gym, what happens? Your body changes and you look at yourself, you're like, holy shit, that was in here the whole time. Same thing here. Yeah. We have stayed consistent and now feel completely different about being in rooms like this and putting ourselves out there in this way because we do what we say. We practice the rep, we show up, we set the intention, and then we have a good time. Yeah. Because at the end of the day, if it's not a good time, then what are we doing here?
LyssaThat is also a good time. So, like, it's gotta be a really good time to take me away from that good time. A thousand percent. But I know, I love it. And it's crazy to think that that first one was back in February, and we're about to go do our third one in like three weeks.
BarbThat's nuts.
LyssaYeah, yeah. Because we're not alone, yeah, because there are other women that are saying, fuck yes, put me in that room, put me in that house, give me that time, give me that space, give me that energy. And like, I'm here, I'm here to give it all. I love it. I am. I it's funny when I I was thinking this morning,
For The Women And Final Goodbyes
Lyssalike, what are what we were gonna talk about on the pod today, and in my head, I was like, this one's for the girls. This one is for the girls, it's for the women because that's where I'm at. I fucking love women. I love being around women, I love supporting women, and I think that that's the purpose. That's the purpose that I want to serve in this world because women are fucking awesome. We're like literally the best. We run the world, we create the world, and that's what I feel like has been forgotten. And I'm here to remind you. Oof. Go ahead, Leo. I made this bitch. You're welcome. Uh but this feels like a good place to love and leave our friends. So, this is the part where you're gonna do all the things. You're gonna like and follow and subscribe.
